- Hayward Airport Overlay Zone
The Hayward Planning Commission conducted a public hearing June 8 on proposed Airport Overlay Zoning Regulations, creating a zone regulating land use, density, height, lighting, and airspace protection for the benefit of the city's airport. The zone extends into residential neighborhoods surrounding the airport, but only within in the City of Hayward. See City of Hayward agendas and minutes (at the city's website). A copy of the city planning staff's report on the proposal is available at the Hayward Main Library (835 C St.) and Weekes Branch Library (27300 Patrick Ave.) as well as at City Hall in the offices of the planning division or city clerk. - Alameda County Airport Land Use Commission
Regular meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, 2 p.m., Public Hearing Room, Alameda County Offices, 224 West Winton Ave., Hayward. The commission is responsible for establishing a land-use compatibility plan for the area surrounding each airport in the county, and reviewing proposals for development within those areas. The commission has no authority over development within airports. - Regional Airport Planning Committee
The committee has been inactive since October 2013. No meetings have been scheduled since then. RAPC is concerned with a regional perspective on airports in the Bay Area, including small "general aviation" airports like Hayward, as well as the noise impacts of the Bay Area's airports. It is composed primarily of appointees from the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission. When active, the committee meets quarterly, and additionally as needed.
