Equipment Failure Forces Pilot to Crash-land at Hayward Airport

DECEMBER 21, 1999

A pilot made an emergency crash landing on Monday morning at Hayward Executive Airport when his plane's landing gear failed, fire officials said.

The pilot called airport officials about 11 a.m. to report trouble with the single-engine Cessna plane, said Craig Bueno, Battalion Chief in the Hayward Fire Department. The pilot landed the plane uninjured and dwas treated at the scene by paramedics.

Bueno said the plane had a four-hour fuel supply in the tank and that the pilot was the only person aboard the four-seater airplane. His destination and name were not known at this time.
