FAA Says Hayward Airport Pilot Training School Violated Rules

NOV. 30, 2010

The Federal Aviation Administration announced yesterday it plans to fine a pilot training school at Hayward Executive Airport because the school's instructors did not complete required training. Flying Vikings, Inc. faces a civil penalty of almost $220,000.

The FAA charges that during a nine-month period in 2008 the instructors had not completed required training or refresher courses within the previous year. During that period Flying Vikings instructors trained 20 students and graduated 10. The FAA also said that the school did not maintain required training records in that time.

The school's co-owner, Celine Correa, was quoted as saying that the school plans to appeal the penalty.
